The Hepatitis Foundation of NZ (HFNZ) is now offering blood test results via email .
The move aims to provide people with their test results in a more timely fashion and is part of HFNZ’s change to a more digital way of working. All patients enrolled in HFNZ’s long-term monitoring programme can opt in to receive their results by email. Text results will also be available at a later date.
Over the past two years HFNZ has been increasing its use of digital technology for managing records, patient screening and monitoring, and communications. In 2018 it introduced a new patient management and registry system to better support the 120,000 New Zealanders living with hepatitis and help it meet 2030 hepatitis elimination targets. All data is now digitally stored, which means HFNZ can maintain full services to patients in the event of disruption or emergency.
“Our patients are at the heart of what we do and it is time to focus fully on a digital future,” says HFNZ CEO Susan Hay.
The new electronic results service is part of a wider digital strategy that will enable HFNZ to better engage with at-risk New Zealand communities through targeted communications campaigns across a range of channels.
